Our grandmother use to make this for us. It's an old fashioned kind of taffy that makes for an evening with the kids or grandkids memorable.
Here is how the actual recipe reads:
2 cups sugar 1/2 cup Apple Cider Vinegar 2 Tablespoons Butter
Boil all together, wipe sides of pan down with a cloth dipped in water. Do not stir after sugar is dissolved and mixture comes to a boil. Cook until a little dropped into cold water will make a hard ball or 256 degrees. Take from fire, set into a pan of cold water to stop from boiling, them pour onto a large buttered platter. As the edges cool, lift and fold to center. As soon as cool enough to handle, pull as for taffy. Form into ropes, size of a finger, on buttered tray. Cut with scissors into bite size pieces and wrap in squares of wax paper.
