French Black Copper Marans
The French Black Copper Marans (FBCM) are a heritage breed, dual-purpose chicken that hails from Marans France. They are not a "production" layer. FBCM's lay a dark brown, rich and creamy egg on average, one every two or 3 days.
The eggs are so rich and creamy tasting, a lot of French Chefs refuse to use any other type egg.
FBCM's, in our experience, are not really a friendly chicken. They remain aloof because they are a heritage breed and survival dictates those characteristics. They are great foragers. They go readily become broody. They are good momma hens that fiercely defend and are dedicated to raise their chicks.
Occasionally we have unsexed chicks for sale for $10/each or 6 for $50; We sell fertilized eggs for $24/dozen.
Buyer pays actual shipping costs and insurance if desired.
